When developing the RISTA program, the objective was to create the best direct selling program out there; something that would appeal to the most ambitious driven women. A program that would empower women to build a business that fit their individual needs and offered opportunity to utilize their creativity – all while providing worthwhile incentives and useful support. So, we took a long hard look at other direct sales companies. We kept what we liked, took out what we didn’t, and added some new twists that will completely change the way you look at the “party business”.

We found that most party companies require you to meet a minimum monthly sales goal. If not, you lose your status as an independent consultant, and have to pay “re-activation” fees if you choose to start up again.
Recessionista gives you the freedom to sell when and how you want. Want to take some time off? No problem, just pick up where you left off when you get back. Want to hit holiday season hard, and take January and February off? Go ahead, you’re the boss!
No MLM (Multi-Level Marketing)
If you’re unfamiliar with MLM — it’s where your commission is limited due to overrides paid to the people who recruited you into the business. They make money off of your efforts. We believe that the commission should stay with the consultant who earned it! So rather than tapping out at the typical 20-25% commission mark, Recessionista pays up to 40% commission on all product. You don’t have to share the commission you earn with anyone!
Quality Product at Amazing Prices
Selling is simple when you have the product everyone wants at the price they can’t find anywhere else. Cutting out the multi-level, is also the reason we’re able to offer such great deals to your customers. We don’t have to mark up an item ten times, in order to pay a commission to ten people when it sells. When we looked at other party companies, we found expensive, overpriced product. We didn’t find any major party company that sells “discount” product. They inflate prices to cover multi levels of commission. It’s the main reason why Recessionista doesn’t use MLM.
Exclusive Territory Rights
It is tough to sell something that your next door neighbor, best friend, and sister-in-law are also selling — especially when you all live on the same block! Recessionista believes in backing their consultants by protecting the customer base the consultants built. This is a very different approach to most direct selling companies, who allow areas to become over-saturated, which undermines the original consultant. Her client base is divided out to anyone and everyone who wants a piece of it.

New product each season was truly the key to creating the most time-efficient, profitable direct selling business option. Most party companies carry the same product line year round, while adding a few new items here and there. This limits the number of times you can sell to the same customer. After you’ve attended one party, you’ve seen it all and there’s no reason to attend another one a few months later. This means the consultant must constantly be generating new business. Consultant Feedback
Of course, to have the best program, you must constantly seek the feedback and suggestions of your consultants, (or as we like to call them, “Ristas”). We’re anxious to hear what you have to say. We’ll take that information and apply it in our efforts to continually improve “our best”.
No Restrictions on How or Where you Sell
The “party model” is one of many options. Rather than limiting you to that option alone, we not only encourage, but enable you, to explore any and all other options for selling your product. Some of these include:
- Customization options for selling to teams/organizations
- Business plan and tools for retail selling; from a single sales event, to a mall kiosk or boutique
- Training techniques for selling to/supplying businesses, hair salons or through email lists and fundraisers.
