Recently we had a little lesson in the business of fashion (or maybe it was the fashion of business, but it sounds better the other way around, so work with me here.)
While we often see celebrities in outlandish ball gowns (did anyone watch the Golden Globes this weekend? Or more importantly, did anyone see the Golden Globes’ worst dressed?) It’s not all bird nest hats and cake shaped dresses in Tinseltown, though. Sometimes a girl has to put on her big girl clothes and get the job done.
Today we have three lovely celebs who are trying to get the job done. So tell us who you think is getting it done best!

Be sure to tell us your thoughts in the comments. And don’t forget to join us on Facebook for our Coach handbag giveaway!

The professional suit is always in style and as the economy improves and more jobs are created (slowly…so slowly, but surely), job seeking Recessionistas need fabulous suits at fabulous prices. That’s just part of nailing the interview.

What you need to know…
This is not a fashion show, it’s a women’s business suit. Stay classic. Black, white, gray and navy are safe suit colors. Pants or pencil skirt? Completely up to you!
You WILL be judged in appearance. Taking the time to have your jacket taken in and your pants hemmed shows that you pay attention to detail and presentation matters to you.
If you’re suit fits you, you’ll feel confident during your interview.
Keep your jewelry simple. If you have a tendency to play with your hair, pull it back.
You’ve got this!
Not sure where you buy your power suit? If you have a limited credit card or sign up for their coupons, you can get a great suit at a Recessionista-friendly price. Overstock.com also has great deals, but be sure to take your measurements before you order!
You know what would go great with your power suit? A Coach handbag! Check out how to win a Coach bag here. And then head over to our Facebook page to join the fun!

This holiday season I’ve traveled from coast to coast and my fashion radar was on full blast. I wondered why the girl flying from Iowa to visit her fiancé, a sailor in San Diego, was wearing sweatpants and a ratty tee. I wondered why grandmas around the world put on full makeup to take the red eye across the country. I saw some seriously questionable fashion and had some serious fashion envy and I thought long and hard about travel fashion this season and here are my conclusions.

A low ponytail is great no matter what kind of runway you're on!
- Looking clean and put together is more important than making a fashion statement when you’re flying across the country (or the world).
- Wear a low ponytail (or if you have short hair, carry a hair clip with you)–it keeps your hair from doing some pretty crazy things, while allowing you to rest your head on the seat (or whatever your uncomfortable position of choice is).
- A dress may be very comfortable, but I would avoid it…you never know when the TSA may want to have some alone time with you. Should that happen, you’ll want to be wearing pants!
- Long sleeve shirts with sleeves that are loose enough to roll up are a must. They keep you warm when you’re cold and cool when you’re hot. Versatility is key.
- Choose your pants wisely. If you’re pants of choice are jeans, make sure they are stretchy (like skinny jeans) or loose. There is nothing worse (in my fashion world) than feeling constricted in your own clothing.
Last, but certainly not least there are a few things you should keep in your carry on that are sure to pep up your style post-flight.
- Accessories – add a headband or a necklace to your outfit post flight (it might make you uncomfortable on a long flight)
- A toothbrush or mouth wash will make you feel fresh on the inside
- Some concealer and mascara will make you look fresh on the outside
