New Year’s Eve Fabulous Fashion Tips
Posted in Fashion tips on 12/21/2010 10:09 am by Recessionista PartyWhile some of us are still working on our holiday shopping, I have moved on to New Year’s Eve Fashion. So here you have it my comprehensive guide to New Year’s Eve Fashion.
A dress that makes you feel lovely without breaking the bank
For the last two months we’ve had our awesome sponsors 365HANGERS giving away gift certificates to their shop. You can’t beat designer dresses under $50. If you’re hesitant to purchase a dress online, my personal favorite options are Target (great dresses, great prices, you’ll look fancy for sure!) and, if you are brave and patient, TJ Maxx, Ross and Marshall’s. While we see lots of metallics, greens and reds during the holiday season, it’s not about what’s popular, it’s about what makes you fee
A stylish shoe that demands attention and provides comfort
If you have a brand of shoe that works for you, stick with it (assuming that you find the perfect shoe to match your fabulous dress). I am currently telling all my friends about the power of the Guess stiletto. The Guess shoes I wore in this video were unbelievably comfortable. I danced all night and still walked up three flights of stairs at the end of the night with the shoes still on! Whatever you do, don’t debut your shoe on New Year’s Eve. I know that you know better, but I’m just reminding you to rock those shoes with your sweatpants to the grocery store or with your pajamas on Christmas morning, before you hit the dance floor on New Year’s Eve.
Bold lips
I love love love bold lips. They are so festive and so classic. But beware, they can be messy. There are so many articles out there on how to get bold lips, over the years I’ve compiled my own rules.
1. Pick the right color or risk looking like a clown. I prefer to speak with the ladies at the MAC store or the department store makeup counter. If you’re unsure, just talk to a professional please!
2. Wear a lip primer to prevent bleeding and to minimize how often you have to reapply.
3. Use lip liner it’s just the classy thing to do!
4. Make sure you avoid getting lipstick on your teeth. I’ve found that doing it this way is most effective for me. A little awkward, but it works!
A fancy hair do that doesn’t require a trip to the salon
The internet is your friend. Daily Candy has enough DIY hair dos to keep me occupied for days! To prevent unnecessary frustration, be sure to try your NYE hair style a few days prior! (Perhaps while the kids are playing with their toys on Christmas day?)
Happy Holidays from the Recessionista Team!
